Hokkaido

Hokkaido System

Located in Kusari space, the Hokkaido system has dense scanner-blocking clouds and a toxic radiation pocket that rings the Hokkaido sun. The clouds in the system, mainly the Kayo Cloud, contain fields of H-Fuel. Samura Industries have set up a lucrative gas mining operation in Hokkaido to make up for losing the Gas Miners Guild to Kishiro. A jump gate to Chugoku is currently being built in the north end of the system, which has raised the ire of the Blood Dragons, who have already made their home in the system at Kyoto. The jump gate construction site is closely guarded by the Kusari Naval Forces from the Battleship Matsumoto, though the military presence has not deterred the Blood Dragon attacks at the least. Hokkaido is also home of the Golden Chrysanthemums, an all-female terrorist group allied to the Blood Dragons. Dragons often launch attacks against the Chugoku Gate Construction Site from the GC headquarters of Ainu Depot.

Bases[]

Ainu Depot[]

Ainu Depot in the Hokkaido system

Ainu Depot

A Golden Chrysanthemum (GC) base hidden within the Shiden Cloud. From here, GC members launch attacks on Sapporo Station and the Chugoku Gate Construction Site.

Battleship Matsumoto[]

Battleship Matsumoto

The Battleship Matsumoto is one of the newest, most advanced ships in the Kusari Navy. This ship has been deployed to the Hokkaido System to provide protection for crews involved in the construction of Jump Gates and to eliminate the presence of terrorst groups believed to be using the system for refuge.

Chugoku Gate Construction Site[]

Chugoku Gate Construction Site

The Jump Gate linking Hokkaido is part of a controversial construction project intended to open the recently discovered mineral riches of the Chugoku system to exploitation by Kusari business interests. However, because of the natural dangers of the Hokkaido System and significant levels of terrorist activity, Interspace Commerce (IC) refused to insure the venture until the Kusari government committed to station the Battleship Matsumoto in the system for protection. Despite the large military presence, the Chugoku Gate is still a favorite target of the Blood Dragons.

Sapporo Station[]

Sapporo Station in the Hokkaido system

Sapporo Station

Constructed by Samura after the completion of the Jump Gate linking Hokkaido and New Tokyo, Sapporo Station was intended to act as a local base from which Samura could survey the surrounding systems for mineral resources. But with construction proceeding ahead on the Chugoku Gate and the resulting increase in terrorist activity, Samura has been persuaded by the Kusari Shogunate to also house officials from Deep Space Engineering and Universal Shipping while providing support for the Kusari State Police.

    • 2x Disinfector 1

James Morrel (4F, center-right)[]

Wreck of the James Morrel

The wreck of the James Morrel. The Universal ship was transporting Trade Lane Parts to the Chugoku Gate Construction Site when it was attacked by Blood Dragons.

Note: This is also referenced as the Thomas Morrel in-game.

Fields[]

Kayo Cloud[]

A gaseous cloud. Blood Dragons frequently use the cloud to launch attacks against the Chugoku Gate Construction Site.

Shiden Cloud[]

A cloud that was only recently discovered to conceal large fields of H-Fuel. Samura has begun harvesting the Fuel using Sapporo Station as its base, in an opening of the cloud near the New Tokyo Jump Gate, but has found itself in conflict with Golden Chrysanthemums terrorists who claim the cloud for their own. Little can be done to guard the gas miners and line of navigational buoys that lead through the cloud to the Chugoku Gate Construction Site on the other side of the system.

Unyo Cloud[]

A gaseous cloud. A line of navigation buoys cuts through the cloud pointing the way through the lethally dangerous Kyofu - and the Kyofu is not the only danger. Blood Dragons often lurk in the cloud waiting to attack supply shipments from Sapporo Station bound for the Chugoku Gate Construction Site.

Rumors[]

"The ship Thomas Morrel was transporting Trade Lane Parts to the Chugoku Gate construction site. Shortly after crossing the Kyofu Gap, it was attacked by Blood Dragons. The disabled Morrel drifted into an area of the Unyo Cloud perilously close to the gap. Several of the containers were offloaded to smaller ships before a radiation storm forced the salvage crew to abandon the area. Upon their return, the ship had disappeared." - George Oldman, Deep Space Engineering, Sapporo Station
