The Omicron Beta system in the story mode is the system visted during the second to last story mission, in which Edison Trent , Juni andKing infiltrate an abandoned Nomad Lair to steal it's power cell in order to activate the Nomad Artifact. They had ten minutes to get in, grab the Nomad Power Cell, get out and head to the Omicron Minor jump hole before it collapsed. The Nomads had set a trap, however, lying in wait for the Order agents. When Trent and company arrived, the aliens ambushed the three and activated the shields around the Lair's entrance. After an intense battle, the team escaped with the power cell and fled to the Order's headquarters at Planet Toledo.

The system's naming is probably a mistake made by the programmers, as a system called Omicron Beta exists within Outcast space, or, given that both systems exist deep within the Edge Nebula, the story system is meant to represent a distant region of the system far from the mapped regions.
